Giardiasis

The assignment was to blog about something that interest us. Well, what can be more interesting than a diarrhea illness caused by a microscopic parasite in water. EWWWW! When a person or animal is infected, this parasite lives in the intestine and passes in your feces. Giardia is found in every region of the United States. Giardia can be found on surfaces, soil, food, and of course water. You can become infected by swallowing the parasite, you cannot become infected through contact with blood. There are several drugs to treat Giardia.
